I was fortunate as a young child of the opportunity to observe and study a woman who in her own right was an accomplished Artist. I was completely fascinated by her ability to “capture” things and people in the most perfect and realistic two dimensional form I had ever seen. She was my inspiration in everything, right down to the smells of the studio, the turpentine and the oils themselves.
It’s a world like no other, to be lost in the colors of your own world, a world of your making. Whether it’s someone’s face, the sea, or flowers in a vase….for a time, that is my world and I completely lose track of time and space. This is why I paint. This is simply…what I love to do.
I am not the sort of Artist who talks about form and technique and all of the “Rules of Art”. To me, there are no rules. I am not limited to one medium or one subject and I experiment with as many mediums and subjects as I am inclined.
My favorite Artists are Sir Frederic Leighton and John W. Waterhouse and I enjoy reproducing their works. They are an inspiration to me as well. I even enjoy painting modern day people in historical clothing. Women and History become themes in much of my work as well.
I am a native of Las Vegas, Nevada where I lived for the majority of my life and I now live and work in Le Claire, Iowa. I invite you to enjoy my works of art!
