About Me

Canadian Artist Viet Tran celebrates both chaos and orders through his painterly paper collages. Tran used collage as an art therapy during his two years in Galang Refugee Camp in Indonesia. Tran has resettled in Victoria BC Canada since June 1, 1987. As a pure paper collage artist, Tran does not apply type of paint on his collage.

UNIQUE PAPER COLLAGE

Tran has a very unique technique which he calls "paint with paper". He patiently glues many layers of thousands of tiny coloured pieces directly ripped from magazines for each collage.

ART THERAPY

An art viewer may take a close look at Tran’s collages to detect movements, a chaotic world of colors, and shapes from messy layers of pieces of ripped magazines rebelliously fighting against each other. However, as the art viewer slowly steps backward about 10 feet away to have a “macro-look”, the collages gradually reveal its order, light, depth, energy, uniqueness, and beauty. The art viewer can change perspective and feeling through the artistic transformation of these collages by repeating the “zoom-in-and-out” process for a couple of times. Art viewers can find stillness and calmness within themselves through this process.

teacher;
who do you know who can write like this ?
here it is.................. ..
Who ever you are lets just call you no-name 50 was the best I could find out about you I’m really impressed with your composition. this is great work and I know it took some time and I’m glad I saved it cause this re-print is all I got left. There was a flash of lightning that hit my computer and eliminated your post/comment so I had to re-print is for people to read. Magna-mega way above anything recently I have read and I do read very much. So here it is;
We believe it because We wrote it. Way back when your ignorant ancestors were finger-painting bison on cave walls, our inventive forefathers diligently carved abstract symbols in stone. If some destitute dirt-farmer drew it just now, with a pencil on a napkin by candle-light, how could it have more truth than our conquering generations of superior print technology? Who needs mysterious ways, when we have access to tarmac toll-roads of wireless science? Don't know? Then let us broadcast, "O, High definition digital Deity,dignify us who deserve You daily. Let us be reduced, reused, and recycled indefinitely, moved yet never removed. Rather deign to delete they that distrust Your plasma-perfect devices from the data-base of Your delightful design. Dazzle the dusky dreamers of dull and drafty dawns with the Your distinct likeness of direct daylight. Download Your decrypted destiny to we who desire Your highest resolution, while You degrade the signals of they who You doom to decay. We detect this in the nano-charges of all these Your dynamic circuits, Vertical, Horizontal, and Diagonal, converging without drift, Num Lock, Print Screen, Enter." Aahhh! Do you feel that cool warmth in your bones folks? That is not faith or belief in some low-tech translated creator myth. That is the mathematical certainty of next-generation, terra-formatted, uber-broadband streaming media transceivers linking everyone (with the foresight to take advantage of these affordable cradle-to-grave subscription products) to the Lux-Cypher Two marrow implant/virtual SATellite Assurance Network. The beautiful thing about the SAT.A.N.system is that after we install your System Operations User Lobe you won't have to lift a finger! Our program does it all for you! Why get up early on your day off, drive through unpredictable weather, and crowd into wooden benches with desperate old folks, rotten little children and their morally corrupt parents, just to have a clergy man tell you what to do? "Stand, kneel, pray, stand, sing! Bow!" Argh! My aching back!!! On top of all that, you have to worry about remembering the words to complex prayers and singing hymns off key again.Then there's the collection basket How embarrassing! No wonder Mondays at the office are so unproductive. Well here's the good news...our new SAT. A. N. system will reserve you the best spot in the great beyond! But hey, don't delay! Get yours today, because there may be no tomorrow!!! Call right now! 674-9749 That's 6-SIXSIX...Operators are standing by...

i want you to connect with "Gunsaku"
this is something he wrote.
here it is..........
Dear Scott,
To provide a diametrically discursive and equally tardy answer to your perfectly simple inquiry, I am from California living in an obscure enclave which the plump, sun-ripened natives call Westlake Village. Serendipitously, my father was raised in the city of Durham, North Carolina. On the occasion of my conception he and my mother emigrated to the ulotrichous District of Columbia where I was born. He practiced patent law while she matriculated to become a champion abecedarian in a place and time that highly valued the concise usage of subtle verbiage. Thus I was rigorously schooled in your language, the English.
Alas, I grew into an unapologetic bibliophile, loquacious word monger, and neologistical legacy of the Hecatoncheiroi. In fact, it has been said that I speak and write with too much precision to pass for an American. Due to my familial shibboleth et cetera I could not be mistaken for a Republican, even of the Log Cabin variety. By the sixth grade I was fully autodidactic, rebelling against the codified systems intrinsic to public education. This social and emotional isolation seemingly inevitably drove me down the perdu path of haiku. When I graduated from high school in 1977 I only wanted three things for myself and my world; peace, love, and understanding. Hilarious, huh?

If you wish to know more about this weird exploration of communicative quandry, type these touchstone words into your favorite search engine and follow the links until you're positively delirious...or reach satori...or whatever it is your people say when you mean "enlightened".

I'm the only Jaey Peele to be found in Google.

You wondered at my pen name Gunsaku, and doubtless the peculiar syntax of my writing.
It's My Passion to confound the dominant paradigm with the vertiginous brevity of a fat frog's leap into a deep pond. A gunsaku is a collection of haiku treating the same event from various viewpoints. In Western psycho-analytic terminology gunsaku might be the verbal or written presentation of dianoia.

While writing as Gunsaku, I embrace the ulterior veracity of millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne when he uttered his iconic autofloccinaucinihil ipilification, "I think that anyone who runs around dressed like a bat obviously has issues."

Of course if anybody asks, I'm not saying I'm some super heroic haiku wizard dedicated to truth, justice, liberty, and dignity for all of humanity. I might be thinking it but I'm not saying anything of the sort. I'm just saying that words have a tremendous power to transform the world across vast reaches of time and space. To touch another individual at her deepest core, to bring out the very best or worst of a person's spirit, no matter how broken, lost, well hidden, or savagely suppressed, the truth may be found in each and every one of us, yearning to be led to eternal glory by the right word at the right moment.

It don't gotta be pretty. Ain't has to be sweet. Still, it must make us feel. At its best this is haiku. I thump my chest, "That's what I Do!"

...and everybody laughed...

Hey, Scott
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. You've been a great reader, you really have. Give yourself a nice round of applause, you deserve it. Thank you...Thank you...I'll be here until Thursday... Try the roast beef...Thanks...Tip your waitress...Thanks again...Drive safely, now... Have a great night and a better tomorrow...Bye Bye...

Oh, hi...I'm glad you enjoyed it...Well of course I'll sign it...Here? and here... and initials there...there...and once more on the sleeve? It's always great to meet the fans from before Oprah and that whole Google thing...Well, thank you Scott with two Teas... and Marti...there you go...

Scott Martin,
I hope these words bring
Peace, Love, and Understanding
to you and yours,

Sincerely,
Your Dear Friend,
J.E.

the mind wonders
the mind wanders;
and always goes home to rest
scottmartinlocke - 10/21/2009 on writing: not simple really
we have to find simplicity
in the complexity of life
to save our own rationality

the dust we stir
only clouds the truth we seek
its sparkle separates it

so by mid day
we just have to laugh
because we realize we don't know it all

The samuri thinks of all things out of necessity,the past,present and future;
they are all one.

Infinity, eternity are consumed by time
you will get lost without a guide
so says the Great Spirit.

Where will you go first when you enter
thru the gates
of the other side of nature.

Still so much to learn
think of our capacities and abilities
they pass without exception
along with inspiration.

At the enterance of etrnity
is this great something filled
with nothing at all but spiritand soul.

You become just a thought
in this great consciousness
the collective whole of everything.

The Samuri faces the event horizon
straight away and seeks for
the harmony promised him.

The Samuri walks a fine line
on the edge
with perfect balance.
