Did you notice the reddish sparkles in the craters of that asteroid "NEO 19996"? Apollo 17 brought back some of the same stuff from the surface of your moon. Orange Sand they called it. About 5 years ago, Russia experienced a fall of "red rain". It is inorganic and not only alive, but sentient. This triple dense ceramic plastic is the remains of our former ally, Omnibus of Everado. In this universe it is known as Omnichron and it is in hibernation. When it awakens it will be hungry. Guess which little green planet is on the menu.

LuxCypher1 - 18 hours ago on audio: a far-away landscape
I first heard this cut in the observation lounge of the limo-ship at light speed x 2.5 with a Jack rocks dangling from one hand and a thick plume of some decadent lavender colored smoke climbing in long lazy strips between the fingers of my other hand. I thought I saw letters trying to spell words in the slight breeze of the cool ship air scrubbers when this song on the "enneaphonic" (that's 9 channels!) sound system. The woman nearest the volume control, (Sister Ask? Something like that.) looked across the room directly into my eyes as if seeing for the first time an actual person lurking. A person who loves a sweet new song as much as the next warm blooded stoner tramping between worlds. She flicked her chin as if daring me to give permission. With a smile and nod I agreed that the room could use four more decibels of this. We all rock on the spot for the duration, and I made a mental note to find this song in the ships audio files and put five stars and the comment "Ice breaker" in the comment section. Alas, that shiny purple wall of smoke prevents me from finding my legs, or fingers, or recall of what I wanted to go write a memo or something ridiculous as I'm on vacation and whatever was so important will wait until I recall how to stand up...I opened my eyes and closed my mouth on realising I had dreamed the part about being held immobile by a thick warm purple blanket. The sister had abandoned her D.J. duties and I had a thirst for water. Just plain chilled H2O.

This is exceptional writing!

We deserve the path we follow. Here and now, we six billion souls stand at a fork in the road, with the signs clearly marked.

The pointer in one direction states, "This way to high tech, spoon fed, luxury for myself and a few others clever enough to rise to the top of the socio-economic food chain. Warning! Do not go this way without the proper spiritual equipment! Avarice, gluttony, and greed are required beyond this point!"

The words painted on the arrow indicating the opposite direction warns, "This way to selfless service to all mankind. Prepare for extreme poverty, aggressive opposition, hostility from monolithic institutions, betrayal of close associates, and violent assault by unknown agencies causing serious injury or death. Do not follow this path without these items in your possession : compassion, hope, harmlessness, respect, vision, truthfulness, forgiveness, endurance, humility, tranquility, and love!"

The trail between those two is marked, "This way to wait and see. Please remain with your group. Choose a group leader who will tell the group what to do. Follow the leader. Do not question the leader. Agree with the leader. Do things the way they have always been done. Doubt the intelligence of those who do not speak your language. Express fear and loathing for those without similar physical characteristics. Do nothing while others suffer. Pretend nothing is happening. Do not deviate from reasonable behavior. Avoid the unknown. Stay near the middle of the road. To qualify for group acceptance you must: be normal, display extreme moderation, embrace the bland, mediocre, tepid, and ordinary, ignore the exceptional, and oppose change whenever possible. Before your group proceeds on this path make sure everyone has a personal supply of indecision, angst, ennui, nostalgia, insecurity, insincerity, cowardice, shamelessness, vague doubts, uninformed opinion, exaggerated faults, and low esteem of self and others."

We notice a large group of folks has just departed down that road leaving us alone at the crossroads Glancing behind us we see that the road by which we had approached this intersection is inconveniently closed for deconstruction.

A crew of workers are expertly looking busy placing bright orange hazard cones around a crumbling sinkhole, suggesting there is no going back the way we came from. Thus, forward we must go, alone or in groups, and live with our decisions.

We few who hesitate to instinctively rush toward any of the brightly lit avenues happen to notice a figure trudging toward us from the group trail. There is a hand painted sign around her neck, her head is bowed and her long , wild hair obscures her face as she marches by. Without looking up, she pulls the red lettered cardboard plaque from her shoulders and drops it on the ground before disappearing into the tall weeds between the roads. The deconstruction workers urge us to clear the intersection by busily leaning on their idling equipment.

I can only imagine what you will do when this happens to you, dear reader.

As for myself, it was a no-brainer. "Hey, lady!", I yelled across the field into which she had wandered, "You dropped your sign!" The laughter from the trees sounded suspiciously like a waterfall as a warm, lavender scented breeze carried her reply deep into my ears. "I don't need it anymore. You can keep it, if you want! Enjoy your journey, Ernie!" Her voice echoed off into the distance.

Before I could fully wonder how this odd old woman could possibly have guessed my name, one of the hairy workers boomed at me, "Say, Pal! You gonna use that?", indicating the large cardboard rectangle I gripped against the freshening wind, "Cause we spilled a pot of coffee in the puddle of diesel oil under my monster mud shover, and we could use something to sop it up with!" The power of his perfectly reasonable request seemed to add purpose to the dusty winds of change, threatening to tear the soft white sail from my grasp before I got a chance to see what was scrawled on it. I experienced a moment of vertigo as my feet left the ground, and I used all of my strength to control the weird aerodynamic. I landed on my knees in the sticky weeds between the tines of the fork in the road of destiny.

"What do you say, pal? Can I take that off your hands?" asked the shiny haired giant into the sudden silence. I turned my back protecting the hard-earned prize with my body and took two long strides further into the wild flowered vegetation. Calling over my shoulder, "Sorry, Larry", (a fiction), "I've got plans for this canvas. Maybe you could use a biscotti." I focused all of my attention on the message written in red, and so I didn't hear the big guy bop himself on the forehead and mutter "I coulda got a biscotti!", nor did I notice one of the crew in the distance chuckle, "Hey, he just called Mister Livermore 'Larry'! How could that odd young man have possibly guessed his name? What a funny little world this is."

All of my senses were concentrated on the scarlet letters scribbled on the satiny page before me. The characters carried a tint of terror, a tone of accusation, and a shade of primal disbelief that lent an echoic third dimension to the text and context, bringing the entire surreal scenario to the only life that makes sense to me now.

The sign held a message, that message was a command, and that command is this one single word:

" M U S E ! "

Communications security is a value held paramount among my species, none more highly than the Megalexicon. "Mega-" for units equal to one million, and "-lexicon", a dictionary, vocabulary, or total inventory of morphemes in a given language. I find comfort in knowing that there is a word for a particular concept or item. It is my joy to build new ideas by rearranging roots and leaves of language groups. I cofounded a global club of neologists whose charter states our ideal of full communication in personal conversation as positive expressions of ultimate reality. We pledge to reinvent meaning to include fundamental local, global, galactic, and ultimately, spiritual significance.

This association of clerics, savants, patriots, and pioneers safeguard the truth hidden behind the mundane mask of modern mass media.

To that end, information (and thus knowledge) regarding the neurolinguistic nature of our shared universe is tightly regulated by concerned agencies, often to the detriment of the very sociological organs whose well-being most warrants the protection afforded by being forewarned. As these words flow from the intention of the author, through inutterably complex electromagnetic circuits, to the attention of you, the reader, morphogenic fields are being induced, modified, and propogated according to the doctrines of the Tinkerbell Effect. As you advance into this writing, critical cognitive cascade systems are caused, reinforced, and have become actionable without further notice.

Reading this publication, or viewing this media stream may lead to escalating psychotronic engagement. Roborant argot designed into these devices has been demonstrated to mimic, and at times even surpass, the biochemical affective spectrum achieved by the most powerful, clinically pure placebo currently available for human consumption.

Megalexicon recognises the power of written or spoken words to introduce healing in humanity. The paradigm of specialized street-level verbiage used to enhance healthful excercise, recouperation and rehabilitation from traumatic injury, and post-traumatic stress disorders could be coined. We propose the portmanteau "Placebonics", when affective suggestion equals "Placebo-" and nonstandard urban syntax equals "-ebonics."

that's it so meet me and my people at the space port tomorrow at 2:00pm we're leaving . i want to go back to space. we travel at light speed, miles per second.
when we come back considering how long we stay at the Orion Colony, i hear it's nice this time of year and the beaches are wonderful and the women are fine.
well when we get back the old Einstein Hawkins time conversion table will age us little and the Earth a lot.
So if you don't want to be an old man come with us.
Federation has supplied us with enough craft and will be escorting us. bring all your people or the time differentiation will make us just too old to finish the story.

how about let's get back to the story.
if you don't lead me i'm just gona be creative. no, i'm not sayin nothing alhough nothing is the greatest something there is. i want to go back to space, and there are ships waiting for us at the first lagrange point just above the international space station. all my people are going. gen. sam, trooper lynsday are flying in one fighter. me and ali'en are flying in a similar fighter but we got more fuel. lynsday has weapons to protect us. Lucy Feurre is flying with Korporate..they got a long range cruiser to rescue any of us and of course we got the Federation ships escorting us. our destination is the Orion Colony.
we are leaving tomorrow about 2:00pm i will expect you and your team to fly into the international space port in new mexico early enough for drinks. i got a case of fine burbon waiting. any how the ships almost fly themselves.

Calliope - 03/13/2010 on writing: part two: rambling notes...
Tangled in eternity, this moment is mine, and I will have it, if it takes all decade to get it. Wabbit season, duck season, wabbit season, wabbit season, duck season, fire! You're despicable. Under the storm clouds and over the boss, on stolen silk sheets, we shake sweat and toss, through nightmares unending, until morning light. Then it's coffee in rush hour, and work until night. Not one pause considering the trick of the tale is this course is ungraded, there's no pass or fail.
scottmartinlocke - 03/15/2010
i'm going to finish the story with the title
..."Rambling Notes of a simpleminded Genius"...
JaeyPeele - 03/13/2010 on writing: rambling notes of a mad ...
The mind that finds chaos in order, and makes order out of chaos, is the one that understands it is not the end-all-and-be-all of the galactic universe. The unshakable belief that the cosmos is "6000 years old because that is when God made man" is at best raging solipsism, and at worst a symptom of a society with delusions of grandeur. We turn away from the Hubble Deep Field data, letting the damned thing burn up in reentry because we don't like what it implies. Mankind estimates as worthless anything that doesn't verify our opinion of ourselves as God's crowning achievement. And nobody wants to be estimated as worthless, so we go along with the "Strangers Have No Soul" doctrine that got us this far, and apply it to everything we see in a radio-telescope,or electron-microscope. So the real achievement is the thing itself, not that which it allows us to perceive. "Look at me! I have the biggest(____) in the world! That makes me best!" So we bolt about, higgledy-piggledy shouting our superiority to the stars, and scheme how we would prove it, if someone were to whisper back.
