About Me

One thing I know is that we normally have a different idea of what we are than others, or sometimes even the truth. I like to think I'm an outgoing, funloving kind of girl. I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I am self-employed, but write whenever I get a chance. It's a burning desire within me to someday get a check because of something I've written.

There's only one problem....with all my self-assurance, I've always been diffident to expose my writing. I have such passion for it that I almost want to keep it to myself. Like jealousy over a new lover, I don't want anybody to see him and say, "Eh, not that impressive", or even worse, "Oooo, I want that!" This is something I need to get over.

Interests

Activities: The key to the word "activities" is the base of it....active! I enjoy new and exciting things. I've always loved art and this is a site based on that concept, so I'll start with that. Museums, cinematic adventures, music, dancing, reading, writing, and cooking. (Cooking is an art the way I approach it!) Aside from all the artsy activities, I also love playing and watching sports, preferably in person. I spend as much time as possible with family and friends. Most importantly, I try to get from every day instead of get through it. I feel if I did one percent better today than yesterday then I'm getting the point of life.

Favorite Music: This is a tough section for me because I love all different types of music, it really depends on my mood. I love Pandora.com because it has introduced so many bands and songs to me that I never would have heard without them! When I cook I put on my Frank Sinatra station (if you use Pandora, you understand). When I clean I put on my custom hip-hop and rap station. I listen to classical when I read or write because I learned in Psych. that it stimulates your brain. I could go on and on, you get the picture.

Favorite TV Shows: Hm, don't watch too much TV unless it's FoodNetwork, History, Discovery, The ESPNs, Nat Geo, or some other dorky channel. I guess I was just always taught that TV is an electronic income reducer.

Favorite Movies: This is another tough area for me because I love all types of cinematic adventures. I could go from old to new. I guess my biggest thing is that the movie makes me feel an emotion, whether it be funny, scary, sad, romantic, dramatic. I sound easy to please, but I'm quite a critic. You know what they say, those who cannot do, criticize. Well, I'm not an actor, director, or producer, so I look from a writer's point of view: was it well written and if it was, was it well executed?

Favorite Books: I've always been a fan of Ayn Rand. Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibigiza was a book I picked up last year and it sky rocketed to my Top 10. I get into classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby, but I also read my first Tom Clancy novel by recommendation: Without Remorse and I surprised myself by getting into that. My rules for books pretty much follow my rules for movies: emotion. I could go on for hours on books because I read about five at a time and finish about eight or so a month. I have an issue with that.

Influences: Artistically, Ayn Rand is a big influence of mine. Whether I agree with her beliefs or not I respect the way she weaves them into a story and how staunchly she stands next to them. I love how Edgar Allen Poe wasn't afraid of what people would think of his writing, no matter how disturbing it got. I guess I never thought of who influenced me. I'll think about it and get back.
