Hi Nikki,
We once exchanged thoughts on the seemingly "sparce" supply of connections here... well, 'twould seem we've both done pretty well lately.
(Tossed out that rope and many picked up the other end.)
As for me and Summer... it's been wet here... thunderstorms nearly every other
day. Seems as though we've been getting the weather meant for the Northeast.
My flowers and tomatoes are beaten down, the bird feeder's empty.
(Sigh)

Snuff I agree, I am an old army bratt and unless you are used to that type of upbringing, it is sometimes hard for others to understand. As you can see, the way Charles prepared for deployment, he was fully aware of what he may face.

Being retired, I get to watch a lot of Oprah... missed this one though.
The journal 'twould seem to be a touching portrait of a man. I think that I'd gladly have served with him.
How to say without sounding trite...
Anybody who raises his/her right hand and swears to "protect and defend" is at risk of dying early. The risk comes with the job and the job is worth doing.
There are voices who'd say I'm wrong, who'd shout me down in public but the fact remains... someone must stand watch.
And the watchstanders, by rights, should be people of character.
As Charles surely was.
Just my own thoughts.
