About Me

Hey, my name is Laurie, or Lance as some like to call me-you can call me whatever. I'm 17 years old, a media student. I'm English but apparently I have a funny Anglo-American accent, this is probably due to the huge amount of American TV and film I consumed at a very early age and the holidays I spent over there when I was younger.

Interests

Activities: College, shooting(Film, people. Film)Hanging out with friends. I watch a lot of movies, listen to a lot of music, most of the time I write.

Favorite Music: Metal of any kind, rock of pretty much any kind. Bands I listen to mostly-
Iron Maiden, MCR, Avenged Sevenfold, Flyleaf, Metallica, Alice Cooper, you get the picture.

Favorite TV Shows: I don't watch TV, apart from Heroes.

Favorite Movies: Too many to list! I'll put some up just so you can get the general idea. I will really watch anything.
In No Particular Order:
The Resident Evil Films(All of them)
The Scream Trilogy
The 300(It tends to rub off on me too, I walk around yelling 'Thish ish Sparghta in an Anglo-Scot accent for days afterward)
The Matrix Trilogy
Pirates of the Caribbean 1&2(Three was good but they were kind of running out of story)
Hellboy(Have n 't seen two but it's on my list!)
Casablanca(A s Time Goes By, it only gets better!)
The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Sweeney Todd.
Halloween.
The Freddy Kruger Series(Most of them. 2 was shameful)
Serenity.
The Batman movies directed by Tim Burton.
The South Park Movie.
Enchanted and any Disney Classic.

Favorite Books: Anything by Dean Koontz, Terry Pratchett, or Tolkien. Harry Potter is total bullshit, just for the record.
Dean Koontz is an awesome writer; he hasn't written one book that I don't like. Robert Rankin's Armageddon Trilogy was incredible. I like Anne Rice's stories but seem to have a very short attention span with them.

Influences: Tim Burton, Joss Whedon mostly, and Terry Pratchett. I am also influenced by Tim Kring, the way his stories are laid out is genius. Frank Miller, Quentin Tarantino's movies are incredibly definitive and are timeless, Wes Craven, Robert Rodriguez is a legend, and Takashi Miike is amazing. Isaac Asimov. I find inspiration in a lot of things, I guess.

I enjoyed both of them, my friend, although "enjoy" possibly isn't the right word for it!

Yeah, I agree. When you start writing for some faceless inner critic, you just wind up going through the motions.

Don't worry about replying to my comments right away or anything, I know how it goes. Good luck with the filming.

And yeah, banned stuff is cool. As I understand it, Showtime hired Miike to make a horror movie, the only restriction being a time limit. When he came out with it, Showtime backed off, but released it on DVD. The creator of the show loved it though, and honestly, I can't really blame Showtime. I'm against censorship and all, but the film is disturbing to the point of nearly being unwatchable at times. Besides, when that happens you know you're making waves.

I look forward to hearing your reaction to it though. :D

I'm definitely going to check it out as soon as I can, and thanks for the luck. I think the harshest critic we can face is ourselves, because it can cause complete destruction of a perfectly good story in some cases.
